VI. BUDGETARY DATA

 

1. Budgetary Data

 

The budget for the eight-month period, from May to December, comes to 7.2 billion drachmas. In this amount are included the V.A.T. (18 %), the tax for foreign artists (15 %) and the taxes and deductions for Greek

artists. In this same amount is included a sum of 300 million drachmas

for technical support of the sites where the cultural/ artistic events

will take place, and another sum of 300 million drachmas for

communication expenses.

 

2. Availability of Sites

 

The sites mentioned in the Eight-Months programme are already at the

disposal of the Organization to accommodate the various cultural/artistic events. However, in order to cater for the ever-increasing need for greater seating capacity and, also, in order to utilise the new buildings of the city for the activities of the Cultural Programme. If the Lazarist Monastery is ready by September, theatrical, musical and literary events will be accommodated there, as from 20 September. Also, the activities of the Photography Museum of Thessaloniki, which for the time being, are accommodated at Pavilion 1 of the Helexpo, if there will be space available, will be transferred to the specially designed sites of the Lazarist Monastery.

 

Similar arrangements will be made for the Garden Theatre, the Triandria Damari (Quarry), and for any other site that will be made available to the Artistic Directorate from the end of summer and onwards.

 

 

VII. EVENTS FOR 1998

 

In the beginning of 1998, the opera "Antigone", by Mikis Theodorakis, will be presented, in a world premiere, (Society for Macedonian Studies, December), on the occasion of the inauguration of the Thessaloniki Music Mansion.
