Executive Summary of Index of International Studies in Greece for the 1990s

The Index of International Studies in Greece for the 1990s is a project whose objective is to compile all data available on International Relations, History, Public Policy and Economics courses offered in Greece into an easily used index. Such courses on International Relations theory, diplomatic history, regional studies, international economics and European integration are currently offered in a number of universities, institutions and private schools of higher education in Greece. However, at present, there has been no attempt to coordinate the study of International Affairs in Greece with joint programs, cross-registration arrangements or exchange visits among students and scholars. Due to this apparent lack of cooperation there has been a waste of resources (building the same kind of libraries, dealing with the same issues etc.) while the quality of the existing programs is suffering. The proposed HRG will try to gather the syllabi of the courses along with the catalogues of studies of the main International Relations schools and departments in Greece.

The index will summarize the data according to functional and regional fields. A short evaluation of the programs may also be included.
