FEAST-DAY OF ST. THEODOROI JUNE 8th AGIA MARINA A fair held at Thodorou (ancient Akitos), a small island opposite of Agia Marina. The island is famous for the nurture of the Cretan wildgoat.

FEAST-DAY OF HOLY TRINITY AKROTIRI A fair taking place at the Monastery of Agia Triada Jagarolon, during which, the convent’s library remains open for the people, who have the opportunity to admire the collection of Byzantine icons and 19th codes.

FEAST-DAY OF VIRGIN MARY SEPTEMBER 8th AKROTIRI The fair honoring Virgin Mary takes place at Sternes and Kounoupidiana, two small villages located at the centralist part of Akrotiri.

GRAZIER FEAST APRIL 23rd or ST. GEORGE'S ASI GONIA The stock-breeders fair is one of the most spectacular fairs in Crete. Thousands goats and sheep are gathered around the church. After the church, people milk. In the evening, the fest is carried on in the villages cafes.

"VENIZELIA" MAY HANIA Athletic competitions are held at Hania during the last week of May, as part of the festivities for the anniversary of the “Battle of Crete”. The competitions are organized by the Athletic Association of Hania and the Ministry of Athletics.

PANCRETAN CONVECION OF PEACE MAY HANIA It is organized by the Mayor’s Office, for the anniversary of the “Battle of Crete”.

FEAST AT M.CHRISOSKALITISSA AUGUST 15th CHRISOSKALITISSA A grand fest at the Monastery, at August 15.

CHESTNUT FEAST 1st SUNDAY AFTER OCTOBER 20th ELOS The chestnut fair takes place at Elos Innochorion of Kastanochorion. Many people from all over Crete come to the fair and they are offered roasted chestnuts or pastries made of chestnuts, and “tsikoudia”. After that, a traditional Cretan fest takes place.

FEAST DAY OF THE TRANSFIGURATION AUGUST 6th GEORGIOUPOLI Built on Almiros plain, Georgioupoli has turned out to be a modern bathing-resort. Thus, many tourists come to the fair which is held in honor of the Metamorphosis of Jesus.

ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF CRETE MAY KANTANOS Kandanos holds a significant role at the festival for the anniversary of the “Battle of Crete”, since the village was totally destroyed by the Germans during the World War II, in May 25 1941, in particular.

FEAST-DAY OF ST.-JOHN AUGUST 29th KOLIMBARI The ceremony at the church of St. John, at Rodopos, is held the night before the celebration. The church lies at the bottom of a steep precipice, thus one can descend only before dark and ascend after dawn.

FEAST-DAY OF THE HOLY CROSS SEPTEMBER 14th KOLIMBARI Every year, the fair of the True Cross is held at the village of Tavronitis, near the homonymous river.

THE ASSUMPTION OF THE VIRGIN MARY AUGUST 15th KOLIMBARI The fair of August 15 takes place at the Monastery of Kera Gonia, honored in the name of Virgin Mary the Leader (Odigitria). The Monastery includes a great collection of post-Byzantine icons and relics of saints.
