AGIOS NIKOLAOS
Agios Nikolaos is Anafi's port and is situated on the southern part of the island. From Agios Nikolaos, the only road on the island stretches 2 km to reach Hora. The houses of Agios Nikolaos are spread on the creek of the quiet bay of the port, while along the
coastal road there are small "kafeneia" (coffee-shops) and
picturesque tavernas.
HORA OF ANAFI
Hora is the island's capital and lies on its south-west side. It is built on the slopes of a hill on the top of which stands an imposing
castle and the ruins of an ancient city. Hora maintains many traditional Cycladic architectural elements. It has pretty white houses, circular terraces, arched doorways, narrow picturesque alleyways, and white staircases. Of particular note are the churches of the Assumption of the Virgin, Holy Cross, and St Nicholas.
