ANGALI

Photo Angali is a small settlement with no permanent inhabitants, situated south of Hora, at a distance of 20 min. walk. The area is green and has the best beach on the island. This beach, along with a series of others, is included in the bay of Vathi.

FOLEGANDROS (HORA)

Photo Folegandros (Hora) is one of the oldest traditional Medieval towns. The buildings stand close to one another, thus creating the external wall of the castle, while they are built 150 m. above sea level. The view from the town is unique and many painters, local and foreign, drew beautiful pictures while sitting here. The settlement spreads beyond the castle, yet its Medieval character has not been altered. Some of the most characteristic parts are the four large squares and the numerous churches. The most significant site in Hora is the castle, built in 1212 by Markos Sanoudos in the architectural style of the castles in Sifnos and Antiparos. Other sights are the beautiful church of Panagia and the churches of Eleoussa, Pandanassa and Agia Sofia, all built within the castle. Near the location of Paleokastro is Chrissospilia. It is a stalactite cave, the use of which is not known yet. In the cave, which is protected by the Archaeological Service, smashed pots, shells, and human bones were found.

KARAVOSTASSIS

Photo The small seaside settlement of Karavostassis is situated 3 km south-east of Hora. The settlements' houses are white-washed, built in accordance with Cycladean architecture. The island's port, where fishing boats and yachts anchor is situated here. From Karavostassis, one should visit the areas of Petoussis and Livadi to admire the beautiful cave of Georgitsis.
