At the thousands of picturesque souvenir shops on Mikonos, beautiful traditional folk art articles are sold, such as traditional woven fabrics in beautiful colours and original designs, ceramics, wood-carved articles, leather articles, paintings inspired by the island, and the famous handmade windmills. At the jeweler's shops in Hora, one can find the popular, traditional earrings of Mikonos as well as other trinkets made of gold and silver, while the clothing stores offer a great variety of clothes for all tastes. At the pastry shops, to conclude, traditional "amigdalota", biscuits and the local drink "soumada"(orgeat) are sold, while at the small shops which sell aliments, one can buy "kopanisti", the salted soft local cheese.
