ANALIPSI
The seaside village of Analipsi is built on a small, fertile plain 9 km northwest of Hora. It was named after the chapel of Analipsi, which is built at the village's end. The village is of great archaeological interest, as invaluable findings were discovered in the area. In the location of the chapel of Agia Varvara remarkable mosaics from the 5th century were found, as well as monolithic columns. Near the village, excavations brought to light a Roman swimming pool with beautiful mosaics of the Hellenistic Era, in beautiful blue colourings.
A few kilometers outside the village stands the Monument construction in honour of the French Captain Bigon who helped eliminate the pirates who were raiding the island. Opposite the port of Analipsi, one can see the islets of Koutsomitis, Sirna, Diforia, Hondro and Ligno which can be trained by boat. From the area of Analipsi, one can visit the Monastery of Panagia Poulariani, as well as the cave of the same name.
