The architecture of Paxi is a mixture of western patterns and local peculiarities. Its pretty tiled-roof houses with skylights are simpler in the country and have more floors in the city. Its mansions are dominating and combine neoclassical architecture with a baroque style. The churches have Venetian style bell-towers. They are three-aisled basilicas and are embellished with chiseled decorations and carved wooden screens.
