Izcan: Solution must be found before May 1, 2004

Nicosia Jun 6 (CNA) -- Leader of the Turkish Cypriot United Cyprus party, Izzet Izcan, expressed here today the view that the negotiations on the Cyprus issue should start as soon as possible and on the basis of the Annan peace plan.

In his remarks to the press after a meeting here with Deputy chairman of Democratic Party, Nicos Cleanthous, Izcan said that there is limited time for reaching a solution.

''We want a solution to be reached before May 1st 2004 (when Cyprus becomes a full member of the EU) and we must develop ways, channels, and co-operations and links on each other to back up the process of the political solution of the Cyprus problem'', Izcan said.
