    The National Meteorological Service forecasts an almost fine weather in the whole of the country with north to northwesterly moderate winds turning to strong in sea areas.

    The temperature in Athens will range from 15-24 degrees Centigrade and in Thessaloniki from 14-20 degrees.

    [02] Candidates&#8217; last statements for Municipal and Prefectural elections

    Interior Minister Costas Scandalides has stated today that the Municipal and Prefectural elections are proceeding normally all over the country, calling all voters at the same time to vote with mature ness and responsibility, since their vote strengthens democracy.

    From his side, New Democracy party leader Costas Karamanlis stated that the people would choose those who can solve the country&#8217;s problems and lead to the building of better Greece.

    During the second round of Municipal and Prefectural elections today, 38 prefects and 408 mayors will be elected, with interest focusing on the Athens &#8211; Piraeus prefecture that represents 1/3 of the electoral force of the national territory and the two homonym municipalities.

    PASOK candidate for the Athens-Piraeus prefecture Fofi Genimata stated outside the polling station where she voted today that whatever the results she would never forget that Attica does not only need one vote every four years but respect, interest and care.

    From his side, PASOK candidate for the Athens mayoralty Christos Papoutsis stated that the people would vote with responsibility today and leave behind a 16-year long conservative course, allowing his combination to lead Athens to the 21st century. He also stated that big surprises were expecting Athens today, while he stressed that Mrs Fofi Genimata would prevail since Attica needs her.

    Mrs Dora Bakoyianni, the New Democracy candidate for the Athens mayoralty stated that she would work with everyone for the city everyone loves.

    Finally, Kappa Research Company will begin announcing the first exit polls results at 19:00 today.

    [03] Chrysohoides to visit Washington on Monday

    Public Order Minister Michalis Chrysohoides is visiting Washington on Monday for contacts with the American government on the issue of terrorism. Specifically, the minister will have discussions on the latest developments on the uprooting of N17 terrorist organisation and on international cooperation for the combating of organised crime.

    Meanwhile, the American Congress approved unanimously a resolution that congratulates Greece for its contribution to the international coalition against terrorism and the disrupting of 17N.
