Subject: 3000 years: Greek Music through the Ages From: Christos Markou On October 7, 1995, the Hellenic Society of Georgia Tech (HSGT) and the Hellenic Academic Society of Georgia (HAS) are co-sponsoring a concert entitled: 3000 years: Greek Music through the Ages Vasilios Gaitanos will be our guest, playing the piano, singing and explaining the way Greek Music developed through the last 3000 years. The concert will be educational, cultural and entertaining (of course!) He will include pieces from Ancient Greek, Byzantine, and Demotiki music, as well as Rebetica and Laika by contemporary Greek composers (Theodorakis, Hatzidakis etc). Tickets will be available by the beginning of August. The price is: $5 for adults and free for students with ID (they still have to get a ticket in advance due to the limited seating). The concert will be held at the Georgia Tech Center for the Arts in Atlanta to promote our heritage and culture before the 1996 Olympics. For more information, please send me e-mail Christos Markou
