The Church of the Birth of the Virgin stands in the settlement of Emborios. It was built in 1856 on the remains of an ancient temple and an early christian basilica with material used from their remains. In its precinct, there is a carved font of great historical importance. Excavations brought to light an icon of the Virgin, and a chapel was built behind the church in Her Honour.
The church of Virgin Mary (Panagia) stands in the settlement of the same name. Inside, one can admire its notably carved wooden screen. In its precinct, there are marble reliquaries of St Kassiani and Agioi Anargiri.
The ruins of the Polio castle stand on the location Kastro, at the top of the height on which the settlement of Polio is built. Nowadays, only ruins testify to its glorious past. In the surrounding area, there are ancient tombs, as well as many archaeological findings including pots, Hellenistic inscriptions, and tombstones.
The Cave of Elinokamara is 1 km from the settlement of Agia Marina. It is nestled in a verdant valley among olive groves, opposite the islet Armathia. It is 13.5 metres in width, 15.5 metres in height, and 18.5 metres in length. Two parallel stone walls divide its interior into three parts bringing to mind the Eastern three-part sanctuaries. This fact along with the archaeological findings of the area, indicates that this was a site of religious cult activity in the Mycenean and the
Hellenistic era.
The islet of Armathia is situated 2 n.m. northwest of Kassos. The islet is totally deserted and the only building standing on it is the church of Ipapandi. Tourists can visit this beautiful site by rending a boat at the port of Kassos.
