Kythera, set south of the Peloponnese, is an island whose history goes back
to the second millennium BC, when it was a Minoan naval base. The island
also served as 'resting' place for the Phoenicians and later the Myceneans.
The attention of the visitor is bound to be captured by the steep, cliffy
coast line, the cycladic architecture and the expansive vegetation. Of the
small towns strewn on the island, Agia Pelagia, Hora and Milopotamos are certainly worth a visit, while Potamos boasting a pine forest and a beautiful cobble-stone paved square is not
to be missed.
