[02] President Emil Constantinescu continues his visit to Brazil
The President of Romania continues his Brazilian visit. He is now in the
state of Sao Paolo where he had talks with Jose Geraldo Harmin,
vicegovernor of the state of Sao Paolo. The main points on the agenda of
the visit are the opening of an economic seminar to present opportunities
of business in Romania and various meetings and talks with industrialists
and businessmen of that state of Brazil. Mr. Constantinescu is also meeting
with representatives of the Romanian community of that region. During the
visit to the University of Sao Paolo the President of Romania will receive
the golden medal of that education and cultural establishment.
[03] Rally race of Europe without frontiers is now in Bucharest
32 higher education students coming from 15 European countries are covering
8000 km and 20 borders as part of their rally race in Europe. The starting
point of Prague in the Czech Republic and all the Eastern European students
said it was rather hard to get visas for the West European countries which
the rally race is covering, informs RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.
[04] Multinational team inspects the territory of Romania
On the basis of the provisions of the treaty on conventional forces in
Europe a multinational team led by army officers of Bulgaria and made up of
four Bulgarian, four American and a French army officer makes an inspection
to Romania. RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI transmits that the team is
accompanied by specialists of the Department of Strategic Planning of the
General Headquarters of the Romanian army.
[05] Address of Adrian Nastase, first vice-president of PDSR - Social
Democracy Party of Romania
Mr. Nastase attended the opening ceremony of the Conference of the
Association of International Law ALIA - 2000 as member of the council and
president of the Romanian branch of that Association. During a dinner party
offered by the House of Lords the leader of PDSR spoke of the situation in
Romania this year when presidential and parliamentary elections will take
place in the fall. During the same address Mr. Nastase reiterated the main
action lines of PDSR aimed at Romania's integration in the Euro-Atlantic
structures.
[06] Finance Bank Romania S A is the new name of the Industrial and
Commercial Credit Bank
The capital grows by about three million USD in August it was announced in
a press conference organized by the management of the bank. In this way the
capital of the bank will reach ten million USD and the profit intended is
of two million USD.
[07] A new SAPARD loan
A delegation of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture
will discuss on Thursday the content of the Memorandum of financing SAPARD.
According to secretary of state Valentina Siclovan the memorandum is to be
signed by the end of November which allows Romania to use the money which
has been aimed to be used this year.

Official visit to Brazil of President Emil Constantinescu, a visit which
ends tomorrow.
Standing Committees of the Romanian Senate continue debates: the Defense
Committee will work tomorow and the day after tomorow while the Committee
for Budget, Finance and Banking works today through 29 July.
Costinesti, on the Black Sea Coast of Romania, hosts the seminar on the
theme PULSE OF THE ROMANIAN ECONOMY NOW SEVEN MONTHS AFTER PRIME MINISTER
ISARESCU WAS SWORN IN, a seminar organized by the COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
OF THE GOVERNMENT with newsmen in attendance whose bus leaves at noon from
the seat of the Government of Romania.
A delegation made up of representatives of the Ministers of Finances and
Agriculture will discuss in Brussels the contents of the memorandum of
financing the SAPARD programme for the support of reforms of the Romanian
agriculture.
Visit in Romania of a Chinese military delegation led by lieutenant-general
Jiang Futang, a visit which lasts to 30 July.
