BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic,
expressed her concern over the latest developments in Serbia, which
culminated by yesterday's clashes between government and opposition
supporters in Belgrade, because, as she said, "it concerns all the Serbs".
"The people RS are worried because of yesterday's events in the Belgrade's
streets, as is the whole Serbianhood, together with the Diaspora", stated
president Plavsic in her statement for SRNA, granted in Banjaluka. She
pointed out that "We must not allow Serbian blood be shed again".
SARAJEVO - The RS Government tabled certain remarks and recommendations to
Pre-draft RS Budget for 1997. All ministries should submit, by January 10,
1997, their plans, to show their financial needs, and proposals of
activities to determine ministries' revenues.
BEOGRAD - The head of group of deputies of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS)
in the Serbian Assmelby, Tomislav Nikolic, accused the Socialist Party for
Serbia (SPS) of "deliberately instigating the incidents which might flare
up to bloodshed". "You made your way, so we saw how a Serb fight a Serb",
stated Nikolic, assessing that the reports by state media were "ridiculous".
BEOGRAD - The SRS secretary-general, Aleksandar Vucic, accused the Serbian
president, Slobodan Milosevic, who organised a meeting of his supporters,
of bearing the major portion of blame for yesterday's events on streets of
Belgrade.
MOSCOW - The influential Russian paper "Nezavisnaja Gazeta" concluded that
the certain prospects in Serbian policy await only president of the
Democratic Party for Serbia (DSS), Vojislav Kostunica, and the SRS leader,
Vojislav Seselj.
