NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

DOBOJ - The Government of Republika Srpska /RS/ approved the credit in the amount of 100,000 DEM to the Basic State Enterprise /BSE/ Duvaplast from Petrovo, which provided the Government of Japan - was announced for SRNa by the secretary of the Secretariate for economy and development of the municipality Predrag Petrovic. According to him, the Republican government is considering the programmes of BSE Prenj too, Sockovac, and Gradnjamont and they should became operative soon. The RS Government has promised assistance in construction of four apartments for war veterans disabled persons, two for physicians and professors each, and tombstones for Serbian fighters killed in the fatherland war.

RIBNIK - Because the vice-president of RS Government Ostoja Kremenovic and Defence minister Manojlo Milovanovic failed to come to RIbnik, there was not continued three days ago commenced session of municipal assembly, at which had to be discussed about the new situation after attaching Velecevo and Dubovcani to the Federation B&H /FB&H/. As Serbian radio TV reports, the vicepresident of Government Tihomir Gligoric and minister for refugees and displaced persons Miladin Dragicevic, who came at the scheduled session of municipal assembly, attempted to eliminate the doubts which are related to the involvement of new government in this problem.

SARAJEVO - The main board of the Serbian Democratic Party /GO SDS/ have decided last night at the finished session in Pale that next assembly session of the Party will be held on June 8 in this place. The presiding of the Presidency of SDS Aleksa Buha stated for SRNA after the meeting that the "session of Main Board of SDS, as well as the meeting of Presidency, was in the service of preparations for the next party assembly". According to Buha, GO SDS considered the documents which will be offered to the Assembly for adoption, and political declaration is already sent to OSCE, what would be the condition for the Party to come out at elections. Buha stated last night that the intention of the Socialistic party of RS /SPRS/ to commence the discussion at the next session about the work of its leadership cannot lead to the assembly crisis.

SARAJEVO - While talking about the yesterday's case in Glavica, 15 kilometres South-West from Tuzla, where two Serbs were found killed - father and the son - and wounded woman - spouse and mother - the spokesman of IPTF Alexander Ivanko said for SRNA that it is the case of inter family countdown, in which father killed the son and wounded wife, after what he committed the suicide. According to him, the autopsy will be performed today in Tuzla, and the pathologists from RS should be present.

AMSTERDAM - The foreign correspondents who reports from the spot from the Albanian villages in Kosmet claim that about selfstyled "Liberation Army of Kosovo" they did not learn much, no matter the partiality shown for the local population. Its combat structure, commanders, number and equipment are skillfully hidden, showing only their patrols armed with machine guns, bullet proof vests and symbols of the Great Albania.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic received in Banja Luka into the protocol visit the German businessman Jurgen Keller, the owner of the company Keller, which will in Prijedor build the tile factory. After the meeting behind the closed doors, no public statements were given. Keller should in the course of the day meet the RS premier Milorad Dodik and minister for Urbanism, construction, public utilities and environment Jovo Basic in order to sign the contract about the business cooperation.

BANJA LUKA - In the framework of its regular activities the RS president Biljana Plavsic talked in Banja Luka with the counsellor of the Department for peace operations of UN Bo Pelneff. After the meeting behind the closed doors no public announcement was issued.

BANJA LUKA - The RS premier Milorad Dodik, who is presiding the session of RS Government in Banja Luka, assessed that the passing of the law on property transformation is the most important job that this government has to perform. Dodik stressed that in this moment is most important to adopt the laws about the privatisation at the level of B&H and that the complete job is given to entities to regulate alone the relations and regulations in this field. The Government determined the Draft package of the Law for privatisation and sent it to the assembly procedure. In question are the drafts of the law on privatisation of the state capital in enterprises, the law on privatisation and investment funds, laws on securities, laws on the start amount of balance sheet and procedure of privatisation of the state capital in the enterprises and laws on central register of securities.

BANJA LUKA - On the occasion of the Ascension Day, the St. Patron's day of Banja Luka, the president of RS Biljana Plavsic congratulated the holiday to all the citizens wishing the life, blooming and glory for the city of Banja Luka, whole Republic and all Serbian people. The Ascension Day was marked by the festive liturgy, served by the priest Ratko Radujkovic with the assistance of arch-priests and breaking the St. Patrons bread and sanctifying the wheat in Banski Dvori. The congratulations forwarded the arch-priest Radujkovic and mayor of Banja Luka Djordje Umicevic. The celebration was attended by the premier of RS Milorad Dodik, the ministers in charge, the representatives of parties and public and cultural life of the city.

SARAJEVO - The Presidency of B&H accepted in federal part of Sarajevo the plan about the liquidation of the National Bank, and ratified several agreements which passed the procedure in the Parliament of B&H, of which is most interesting the one on establishing the inter-state Council for cooperation between B&H and Croatia. As stated after the session by the counsellor of the presiding of Presidency Mirza Hajric, this body gave an agrement to the new Ambassador of EU to B&H Horsiol Kretschmer and adopted the demand for opening the office of the Austrian Embassy in Banja Luka. The presidency has ratified the number of agreements which passed the procedure in the Parliamentary assembly of B&H, between which the Agreement on establishing the interstate council for cooperation between Republic of Croatia and B&H.

SARAJEVO - The meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to B&H Mr. Mohamed Ebrahim Tacherian is the continuation of the previous fruitful talks which would have result in concrete in the concrete economic cooperation of the RS economy with this state - stated the co-presiding of the Council of Ministers of B&H Boro Bosic. The part of the talks was dedicated to the political issues related to RS, but also the B&H, and Mr. Bosic reminded that Iran is the presiding of the member states of Islamic Conference, so for RS assistance and understanding of this state is extraordinarily significant. The Ambassador Taherian thinks that the negotiations with RS "are the best way for overcoming the distrust towards Islam states, which has arisen in the course of the past war".

BANJA LUKA - The eight members delegation of RS, lead by the vice-president of Srpska and dean of the Banja Luka university Dragoljub Mirjanic, departed to Graz, where they will attend the Conference about the institutional management, i.e. reconstruction of university. This is the second such conference, and organised by the European rector conference - Department for academic issues. At the meeting, which will last from May 28 until 31, will be discussed about the European standards in the field of the High education, with the aim of improving the educational and scientific-researching work.

BANJA LUKA - The minister for traffic and communications in RS Government Marko Pavic confirmed in Banja Luka that the protocol on establishing the civil air traffic in RS was finally harmonised, with several destinations in FR Yugoslavia, Europe and the world. Pavic precisely said in the statement for SRNA that the agreement was reached between Yugoslavian airlines /JAT/, Directorate for civilian air transport and airdromes of RS, so that, besides the already existing lines, agreed the new additional flights to Belgrade and other places. Instead of previous three lines to Belgrade , in the future will be six flights weekly, two days in week in morning and evening hours, said PAvic.

SARAJEVO - The delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs /MUP/ of RS with Milovan Stankovic at its head, as scheduled, will return tomorrow from the more days visit to MUP of Switzerland, and on Saturday, May 30 at 13,00 h will hold the press conference in restaurant Kula in Serbian Sarajevo - is said in the announcement of CJB Serbian Sarajevo, forwarded to SRNA.

SARAJEVO - The first shipments of the convertible mark were delivered to B&H, and they will be put into circulation next month. The High civilian Representative for B&H Carlos Westendorp have decided on January 1998 about the look of the new currency, after failure of the tripartite Presidency of B&H to agree upon it. The money will have joint elements, but it will have portraits and symbols specific for each entity.

BRCKO - After the 8 hours session in Brcko was reached the compromise between the Syndicate of RS and international supervisor Robert Farrand about the destiny of 65 Serbian employees, who by the order of supervisor must leave their jobs in order to be replaced with Moslems and Croats in multi-ethnical municipal government. Out of eight offered versions of text the supervisor, as the witness and guarantor signed the Memorandum on understanding, which must be signed by premier Milorad Dodik, leader of the Brcko syndicate Ilija Kalajdzic and president of Syndicate o municipal administrative organs Nedji Damjanac. The memorandum anticipates the payment and harmonising the rise of salaries and contribution for sacked employers of Serbian nationality, until they get and accept another job or agree on another form of compensation.

BRCKO - The presidency of Municipal organisation of Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/ in Brcko supports the efforts which the municipal syndicate is undertaking with the objective of protection of the rights of Serbian workers in municipal assembly of Brcko, which would be sacked. "At the yesterday's non-scheduled session the Presidency of SDS supported the half- hour strike of warning in Brcko,, with the primary objective of protection rights of workers which existence is brought into question" said for SRNA the president of Brcko SDS Milenko Sikimic.

BANJA LUKA - On the occasion of the holiday Lord's Ascension - the St. Patron's Day of the city of Banja Luka, His Holiness bishop istocnosremski Motrofan served the holy liturgy in the Church of the Holy Trinity, congratulation the holiday to the city and calling upon the Serbian people on unity and return to the church and God. Besides the great number of believers, the liturgy attended and assisted the clergy choir of Banja Luka eparchy, the minister of Religions of RS Jovo Turanjanin, mayor of Banja Luka Djordje Umicevic and representatives of political parties.

DOBOJ - In the Field Office of OSCE arrived 21 supervisor for preparations and supervising the September's general elections in this municipality and municipalities Teslic, Petrovo and Vukosavlje - announced the OSCE spokesman Paul Hockins. At the press conference in Doboj, he stressed that supervisors arrived in another cities in RS, as well as in Federation B&H /FB&H/, adding that in this job will participate in all 350 OSCE supervisors from all parts of the world.

DOBOJ - At the transmitter of Serbian Radio TV /SRT/ Duge Njive between Doboj and Modrica, from tomorrow will be no SFOR soldiers, because the control will take over the technicians of Serbian television and members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, announced today the HQ of SFOR Nordic - Polish brigade. " The procedure of taking over started around noon and until tomorrow will be finished", stated to reporters the spokesman of Nordic Polish brigade of SFOR Janus Ginzicki.

DOBOJ - By the expire of mandate of SFOR, the part of responsibility zone of U.S. forces in Tuzla-Doboj region will take over the Finish soldiers from Nordic Polish brigade of SFOr - was announced at the press conference of SFOR in Doboj. The spokesman of this unit major Janus GImzicki informed the reporters that the process of de-mining is furthermore one of the priority tasks of SFOR in B&H.

BELGRADE - The presidents of Economic Chamber of FRY Mihajlo Milojevic and Regional Economic Chamber of Tuzla Imsir Imsirevic talked in Belgrade about the renewal of economic cooperation. Both parties stressed that there exist the significant possibilities, regardless the obstacles, for establishing good economic cooperation, since for that between economists on both sides exist a great interest.

STOLAC - In the regions of Stolac, Capljina and Doljani near Jablanica, which are under Croatian control, again are frequent incidents in which Moslem returnees are intimidated, and their property destroyed - reports today the radio in federal part of Sarajevo. "UN are worried because of the fact that no one perpetrator of criminal acts was arrested since the beginning of the year" - stated in Mostar the UN spokesman Kelly Moor.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic stated after the meeting with the delegation of U.S. congressmen lead by John Porter that the guests were interested for events in RS and that they positively assessed all previous changes in our state. She expects that the September's elections should provide better life in RS.

ZURICH - The minister of Internal Affairs of RS Milovan Stankovic, who is on the first day seminar in Switzerland, expressed the hope that the work of the organs of Ministry of Internal Affairs /MUP/ of RS soon be able to be compared with the work of Swiss police, which in professionalism, organisation and equipment is at the top of Europe. The minister Stankovic, with the delegation of MUP of RS, last night was a guest in the Serbian Club "Petar Kocic" in Solturn, the host town of this seminar, where he answered at the numerous questions related to the current situation in MUP in RS.

SARAJEVO - The members of the Council of Ministers of B&H agreed at the session in federal part of Sarajevo the Draft law on bases of privatisation of enterprises and banks and agreed that the text in the form of proposals by the urgent procedure go before the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H. According to the copresiding of the Council of Ministers Boro Bosic, the Law is in competence of entities and they are obliged to bring the appropriate laws and implement privatisation. "The laws dare not be discriminatory towards any citizen of any entity, and the income which is obtained will belong to entities - RS and Federation B&H" - said Bosic.

PEC - In the villages Leocani and Broca in the municipality Srbica the members of the terroristic organisation "The Liberation Army of Kosovo" opened fire from snipers, machine guns and mortar shells on the check- points of the Ministry of Internal affairs of Serbia. As reports the SRNA correspondent from the spot, nobody between policemen was injured, but several civil and official vehicles were damaged and destroyed. So far the data about casualties between terrorists are unknown.

PRISTINA - In Pec and Djakovica appeared the pamphlets of the terroristic organisation "The liberation army of Kosovo" /LAK/ in which is suggested to Albanians to clean basements and put their blankets, food and medicines. Terroristic LAK is threatening in pamphlet to "Albanians - collaborators with Serbs" and gives the message that "they dare not negotiate with Serbian party about the status of Kosovo", otherwise, they are threatening will death.

LUXEMBURG - The U.S.A. State Secretary Madeleine Albright stated in Luxemburg that U.S.A. want to extend the mandate of UNPREDEP forces in FYRM because of the situation in Kosovo for another six months - reports AFP. In addressing to the ministers of Foreign Affairs of member states of NATO in Brussels she recommended the increasing the contingent of these forces from 750 on 1,050 troops.

MOSTAR - The Croatian leaders last night in Western MOstar have decided, in spite of pressures of international community to reject new unique traffic licenses, because on them is used Cyrillic inscriptions - report the federal media.

BIJELJINA - In Bijeljina, around 19,00 h started the consultative meeting between the president of National Assembly of Republika Srpska /RS/ Dragan Kalinic and chiefs of delegate clubs of parliamentary parties. At the meeting would, most probably be discussed about the agenda, place and time of holding the next parliamentary session.

BANJA LUKA - At the continuation of the 17th session in Banja Luka the RS Government has brought the Decree on making evidence and circulation of commodities and services with Federation B&H /FB&H/ and ordered to the Ministry of Trade and Tourism to make special instructions for legal entities dealing with the trade activities. This Decree anticipates free trade of commodities and services between legal entities which seat and residence is in RS, and legal and physical entities with the seat in Federation B&H /FB&H/ On the basis of this Decree the circulation of goods and services between two entities is considered as the internal trade and in accordance with legal regulations, provisions and other effective regulations of RS.

BANJA LUKA - The president of RS Government Milorad Dodik stated in BAnja Luka that the new project about privatisation, which should be realised in RS, fully corresponds with the official stances of U.S.A. After the meeting with the six members delegation of U.S. congressmen lead by John Porter, and U.S. Ambassador to B&H Richard Causlarich, RS premier expressed the contentment with the support which U.S. have provided to RS in the process of privatisation. Dodik explained that he warned the U.S. delegation on the fact that the privatisation applied on the whole B&H territory would represent problem which would additionally complicate the whole situation in B&H.

BANJA LUKA - The president of RS Milorad dodik and deputy director of the mission of European bank for development in B&H ZUzana Fartigaj signed in Banja Luka the substitutive contract for renewal of Power Utility System of RS valuable 8,820,000 DEM. In talks was considered the possibility of active including of the European bank in the process of privatisation in RS, as well as its participation in realisation of the project of mobile telephony. This project is of the value amounting 90 millions $US, and the means for development of mobile telephony jointly provided the European bank and other donors.

BANJA LUKA - The RS premier Milorad DOdik talked in Banja Luka with the owner of the German firm Jurgen Keller about the realisation of the very ambitious plan for development of the tile factory in Prijedor, which will cost between 40 and 50 millions of DEM. After the end of talks Mr. Keller confirmed in the statement for press the RS Government have promised the full support for the fast realisation of this project.

SARAJEVO - The members of SFOR have arrested in Banja Luka the Serbian Milojica Kos /35/, indicted for allegedly committed war crimes, for whom the Hague Tribunal claims that he was one of the commanders of the collecting centre in Omarska near Prijedor - was announced by SFOR. It is expected that Kos will late this evening be transported to the prison Sheveningen. In the announcement of SFOR is stated that Kos "alone surrender when it became clear to him that he is not able to move freely anymore".

BANJA LUKA - The members of SFOR base "Eagle" in Tuzla discovered and confiscated two to three tones of illegal combat means in the basement of on house, nine kilometres South from Doboj. In the public announcement, forwarded to SRNA from the base "Eagle", is stated that the weapons was confiscated during the routine control of the patrol of Nordic brigade, and that on that occasion the civilians cooperated with SFOR.

PRISTINA - Since the beginning of the year until yesterday in the region of Kosovo and Metohija was performed 356 terroristic actions - announced the Media Centre in Pristina. According to the unofficial information which Media Centre has got, the actions of Albanian terrorists were directed mainly against citizens, members of police and police objects.
