[04] U.N. APPROVES RESOLUTION "HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION IN KOSOVA"

TIRANA, NOV 28 (ATA)- The U.N. National Assembly Third Committee, dealing with the Human Rights issue, approved Wednesday the resolution of the Albanian delegation co-sponsored by 24 other countries on "The situation of human rights in Kosova", by 103 votes in favour, two against and 46 abstentions.

The resolution aims at keeping the attention of the International Community fixed on the dramatic discriminating and repressive situation created in Kosova by the Serb police power, according to the Foreign Ministry Press and Information department.

The resolution analyses the situation of terror and calls for actions to stop violence, which has caused massive departures of Albanians from their own lands, a thing which ethnically cleanses the Kosova cities and villages according to the early inhuman plans of Belgrade.

The document, based on the previous resolutions and the report of Boutros Boutros Ghali on Kosova, of the Special Rapporteur on Former Yugoslavia, Rehn, and of other observers of the situation, was largely supported. s.sh/kled/lm/sh/

[07] ALBANIAN LOCAL ELECTIONS SHOWED DEMOCRACY AND DP WON CONVINCINGLY - Ruffy

TIRANA, NOV 28 (ATA)- The local elections in Albania clearly showed that democracy and the Democratic Party won convincingly, the chairman of the Council of Europe, CE, socialist group, Victor Ruffy, says in an interview with Rilindja Demokratike, DP organ.

Referring to the Albanian socialist deputies who continue to boycott parliament, Mr. Ruffy holds that "the socialist party must continue its analysis seriously".

Ruffy says that there are many cases in the political history showing that the boycott will in the end counterpoise the political forces practicing it.

"If I were before the Socialist Party, I would ask it to take part in Parliament, to include in its agenda a real analysis in order to avoid a further erosion in this party", Ruffy said.

Then, Ruffy refers to the Kosova issue saying that "from the Swiss point of view, I would like the creation of a status for both the Albanians in Macedonia and those in former Yugoslavia that would enable them to run their affairs themselves".

"In the next sessions of the Swiss parliament I will ask the Swiss Foreign Minister to put pressure on Serbia for the solution of the Kosova issue.

"The non solution of the Kosova issue poses a great danger of the explosion of a conflict in the Balkans", the chairman of the CE socialist group says". kled/lm/sh/
