[07] GOVERNMENT, IMF ORDER EXTERMINATION OF MONEYLENDER COMPANIES

TIRANA, NOV 10 (ATA) - By Arban Hasani: The major point of an agreement between the Albanian government with the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reached last Friday was the extermination of the Albanian moneylender companies.

This was declared by the prime minister Fatos Nano in parliament on Monday in a question and answer session for the first one hundred days of his governing.

The fundamental point of the agreement of November 7, Nano said, is the "creation of a functional market of the agricultural land."

Nano quoted a note of the IMF Executive Board saying that it is enthusiastic "for a categorical refusal on the part of the Albanian government to compensate the money to creditors from public funds."

The agreement said that "the Board is concerned about the increase of cooperation between the IMF staff with the Albanian government."
