He also accepted that at the time of his ruling there were officials and democrats who deposited money in pyramid investment schemes and DP did not react against them.

The democratic leader ended his speech by calling on the participants to join the constant strikes and demonstrations to topple the current government, considered by him as "a clan of mafia members and smugglers."

Other leaders of DP, as well as representatives of the grouping Union for Democracy," Azem Hajdari, Josefina Topalli, Arjan Starova and others, criticized Nano government considering it as failed in its economic and social policy, as well as dangerous for the national integrity in the foreign policy.

[04] Gjinushi turns down statements for opposition towards President

TIRANA, April 19 (ATA) - Albania's Parliament Speaker Skender Gjinushi reconfirmed Sunday that communication is the solution to unblock the situation created between the institution of the President and the Prime Minister and turned down any other comment regarding this problem, the spokesman of the People's Assembly reported.

The spokesman explains that Speaker Gjinushi does not agree with different statements printed in the Albanian press "on an opposition of his towards the President," considering them untrue and incorrect.

According to the spokesman, who quotes Gjinushi, the created situation is not a matter of a crisis, but of a disagreement between the two institutions regarding the final decreeing of the new government.

"None of the parties have violated the law. Both institutions are in accordance with their constitutional rights," said Speaker Gjinushi.

[05] Kosova issue is not internal problem of Serbia, Tsohatzopoulos

TIRANA, April 19 (ATA) - Albania's Prime Minister Fatos Nano met Sunday with the Greek Minister of Defence, Akis Tsohatzopoulos, who came in the head of a delegation to wish Happy Easter to the effective of the Greek unit, deployed in our country based on an agreement.

Press and information office close to the Council of Ministers informs that Nano expressed on this occasion the thanks of the Albanian government for the contribution given by the Greek government and its armed forces in an effort to recover the structures of the Albanian Army, in the support given for all those Albanians who work and live in Greece.

The meeting also discussed the situation in the region and the bilateral and multilateral efforts to prevent the aggravation of the status quo, mainly due to the situation in Kosova.

Premier Nano expressed the concern of the Albanian government because, as the international community is showing its engagement on the consequent treatment of this crisis, the parties in the conflict are not moving forward to the way of dialogue and the Serbian party is to be blamed for this, because it is trying to gain time through any kind of maneuvers and by claiming that this is an internal affair of Serbia.

At the time when we, the Albanians, are respecting the engagements we have taken not to allow the traffic of arms in our border, we notice with concern that the situation in Drenice and Decan has been aggravated and it can escalate a conflict with big dimensions.

The Greek Minister of Defence, after appreciating the constructive cooperation of the armed forces between the two countries, expressed the viewpoint of the Greek government regarding the situation in the region and mainly in Kosova, by considering it as the last problem remained from the dissolution of the Yugoslav Federation.

"We are against terrorism, against use of violence in these moments when all the countries of the zone are increasing the efforts for the integration into the civilized Europe, but we cannot accept the existence of a wide region in the center of the Balkans, where the population does not enjoy the civil and human rights and lives in poverty," said Tsohatzopoulos.

"The Kosova issue is not an internal problem of Serbia even for the fact that the consequences can affect all the countries of the region in case a conflict breaks out," he stressed.

During the meeting were discussed other topics at mutual interest such as boosting of cooperation between the defence structures of both countries, the coordination of information regarding the establishment of a Balkan multinational force to prevent the conflicts and others. /s.sh/mt/
