[32] Camdessus congratulates Albanian Government on achievements in economic field

TIRANE, June 18 (ata) - By D Koca: "We are impressed of the fact how the Albanian Government, with the advice of the IMF, has overcome the challenges of the recent years," stated the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, Michel Camdessus in a joint news conference with Albanian Prime Minister Pandeli Majko.

Mr Majko highlighted the visit of the IMF chief and said that "this visit is linked with the near and perspective development of Albania in the region."

Mr Camdessus presented some of the achievements of the Albanian Government in the economic and financial fields, stressing that these reforms will continue, because a strong and stable Albania is a factor for stability in the Balkan region. But there are still pending problems, especially in the fight against contraband, corruption and crime.
