SARAJEVO - The president of the National Assembly of Repub lika Srpska (RS) Momcilo Krajisnik, talked in Pale with the new IFOR commander, viceadmiral Joseph Lopes, on the current situa- tion in RS and the previous activities concerning the implementa tion of the Dayton agreement. Following his first meeting with viceadmiral Lopes, Krajisnik stressed the Serb side is ready to implement the Dayton agreement. "In order to ensure the strength ening of peace, I am hoping for Lopes' full contribution in these efforts. There are many issues which were not completely solved and the most urgent among them are the exchange of prisoners and exhumation of the killed", stated the RS National Assmelby presi dent.

SARAJEVO - By adoption of the Report on implementation of Law on using abandoned property, following an extended debate, the RS Government ended its session today in Pale. Also adopted was the Report on activities of the RS Commissariat for Refugees and Humanitarian Aid, and a request was supported for transforma tion of the Commissariat into the Agency for Emergency Humani tarian Interventions. The Government decided to ban exhumations in RS territory, insisting on the receiving an equal treatment by the international community and on the right on proportion in the process of exhumations. By reviewing the Report on the situation and problems concerning preparations for defence of RS, the debate on the first item of the 15th Government session was finished.

SARAJEVO - The issue of RS defence was the dominating issue of the Government session on the reorganisation and modernising the RS Army (VSR), stated the RS prime minister Gojko Klickovic. According to him, a special attention was paid to resources for the Army and building and reconstruction of the infrastructure and facilities damaged during last year's bombarding. "We agreed to obligations of Government regarding the VRS and the defence of RS, so their fulfilment is expected to start in the coming days."

SARAJEVO - The VSR chiefof-staff general Manojlo Milovanov- ic, stated, following the first part of the Government session, that "RS has lived in peace for almost eight months, but that it is a high time for the Army to organise itself as an army which can survive in peace and be capable of fighting."

BRCKO - The Municipal electoral Commission in Brcko assessed a decision of ambassador Robert Frowick to transfer the responsi bility for the Brcko city from the OSCE Regional Centre in Banja luka, Doboj Office, to the OSCE Regional Centre in Tuzla, Orasje Office, as being a pressure of the international community upon the Serbs, which is directly affecting the elections and the up coming arbitrage. In its protest sent to ambassador Frowick, the Municipal Electoral Commission for Brcko says that Brcko has no communication links with Orasje and Tuzla and that such a deci sion is bringing the propriety of the democratic elections into question, which is the OSCE responsibility.

BANJALUKA - A member of the Provisional Electoral Commission John Rid, stated in Banjaluka that 471,1221 refugees who ex pressed their desire to vote at the elections in RS and the MuslimCroat Federation were registered abroad. At a session of the Consultative Council of the political parties, attended by representatives of about 30 parties in RS and the Federation, Rid said the deadline for the registration of voters abroad will for the technical reasons be prolonged for tomorrow, August 8.

BIJELJINA - The RS Ministry of Health Expert team talked in Dvorovi, near Bijeljina, with representatives of the World Health Organsiation on promotion of the health system in RS. They dis cussed the strategic plan of the heath system reform, the primary hospital services programme, projects for the primary hospital services and rehabilitation of victims of war, as well as the financing of the health care in RS.
