NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic with assistants, received in Banjaluka high representative of the international community, Carl Bildt, to discuss normalisation of the situation in the village of Gajevi. President Plavsic explained reporters that these complications were caused by absence of measures of reciprocity, i.e. impossibility of settling the inter-entity zone on the other side". "But good will would make matters well-balanced for all parties", stated President Plavsic.

BROD - RS President in the Dayton B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, stated that the state must support the starting-up of great economic potentials in Brod. President Krajisnik visited Brod where he talked with local officials about the economic difficulties in this part of RS.

SARAJEVO - The delegation of the RS National Assmelby, led by president Kalinic, arrived to French city of Strazbourg, for a session of the Parliamentarian Assmelby of the Council of Europe.

KOZARSKA DUBICA - The RS prime minister Gojko Klickovic led a governmental delegation visiting Kozarska Dubica, where they were informed of local economic programmes for this year.

BIJELJINA - Heard of the RS Army General Staff, general Pero Colic, talked in Bijelina with the Joint Military Commission chairman, general Kody Simpson, on the cooperation within the Commission and implementation of the Dayton Agreement. "We informed general Simpson of problems we are faced with and of our readiness to build confidence and maintain peace", stated General Colic, after the meeting.

SOFIA - The Society of Bulgarian-Serb Friendship organised a three-day visit of a delegation of the city of Visegrad to Bulgaria, during which the delegation held very useful political and economic meetings.

ATHENS - The Greek daily "Elephterotipia" writes about mysterious investments of Serbia's president Slobodan Milosevic into real estate in Athens and the Ionian Islands and his money saved in Greek and Cypriot banks.

CLEVELAND - US officials admit that the West has different treatment of Croatian president Franjo Tudjman and Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic, even though they point out that Tudjman is not less dictator than Milosevic, writes the "New York Times". And yet, in contrast to Serbia, Croatia has a full diplomatic recognition, international financial aid and access for membership into international institutions", concludes the paper.
