NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic, talked in Banjaluka with a delegation of the North Atlantic Assembly Committee for Civil Affairs (NAA) on the return of this region into the European courses. Upon the meeting, president Plavsic stated that "the NAA gave a sound message, clear to the Serbian people, which message confirms that Europe takes care of our region". "Europe offered us a hand to return and fit in its scheme of the common future", stated president Plavsic.

BEOGRAD - The president of the RS National Assembly, Dragan Kalinic, stated in Belgrade that the Serbian people "today can close the book of all previous disputes, objections and hesitation". In his speech before the Council of Peoples in the Federal Assembly, after the Law on Ratification of the Agreement on Special Parallel Relations between FRY and RS was passed, Kalinic informed deputies that by the signing of the Law on ratification of the Agreement, adopted by the RS National Assmelby on March 15, by which, the formal conditions are met for the beginning of its implementation. "I expect that the new FRY Government undertake its share of commitments, and that Yugoslav Government determine mechanisms for the follow up of the agreement implementation", added the RS National Assembly president.

SARAJEVO - The president in the B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, assessed that by the ratification of the Agreement on special parallel relations between RS and FRY, the earlier fashion that all relations were dependent upon the position of current authorities is abandoned. He expressed his satisfaction with the agreement on special parallel relations, adding that a series of separate agreements are to follow.

SARAJEVO - RS and FRY and respective Governments are ahead of extremely important job of the implementation of the Agreement on special parallel relations, which is of a vital interest for the Serbian people, stated RS vice-premier Ostoja Kremenovic.

BEOGRAD - The RS National Assembly vice-president, Nikola Poplasen, assessed that the "Agreement between RS and FRY is late several years, but it is more than encouraging that it has been concluded at all. After Agreement ratification by the Yugoslav Assmelby, Poplasen said "that the ratification as a formal act can serve as a strong basis for the important historic developments".

BEOGRAD - The president of the House of Representatives of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) in the RS National Assembly,

Vojislav Maksimovic, assessed that the Agreement on special parallel relations between RS and FRY offers more opportunities, than it was formally indicated. Following the ratification of the Agreement by the Yugoslav Assembly Council of Republics and Council of Peoples, Maksimovic said the Agreement holds elements of a national programme, sought by the Serb for over 150 years.

TREBINJE - The RS is to open four border crossings towards the B-H Federation - at the Nevesinje - Mostar, Berkovici - Stolac and Ljubinje - Stolac border zone, and in Zupci, near Trebinje towards Croatia - stated RS premier Gojko Klickovic. He stated that the Agreement with Yugoslavia would provide "more concessions in control of movement of goods from RS".

SARAJEVO - The "Energopetrol" manager, Milomir Draganic, agreed upon the portioning of RS and Federation responsibilities for Russian gas delivery, with representatives of the US Embassy in Sarajevo and UK ODA agency, Claude Glants and Tony James. Draganic stated that about US $ 12.4 million worth amount of gas was spent in period between 1995 and today in RS and Federation, but that the debt was not defined, especially for the period of transition of Serb Sarajevo under Muslim control.

BEOGRAD - The president of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) Vojislav Seselj, stated that the Agreement on special parallel relations between RS and FRY is specially important with respect of RS, since the Agreement is supposed to foster its international position. "This is the first serious international agreement made by RS. It is very important that within RS this agreement strengthens a progressive patriotic group in the leadership and those people who are not ready to scarify Serb interests for the sake of their own interests", stated Seselj.
