APRIL 29 1997 DAY
NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA
SARAJEVO - The session of the Republika Srpska (RS) Government started in
Pale today. A number of the Bills adopted at the previous assembly session
are to be on the agenda. The ministers are to consider the Draft Law on
loan for the reconstruction and building of RS - which is to be presented
in the form of proposal at the next session of the RS National Assembly -
then the Bills on lands under cultivation, while the Draft Law on waters
was excluded from the agenda because it was, according to the Parliament's
decision, referred to the public discussion.
SARAJEVO - The sessions of the House of Representatives and House of
Peoples are to take place in the National Museum in Sarajevo tomorrow. As
it is expected the election of the working bodies of the Parliamentary
Assembly will be on the agenda of both sessions. The appointment of
representatives of B&H to the international organisations, the ratification
of a number of agreements signed between the representatives of the
Presidency of B&H and Council of Ministers and a certain number of
governments and international organisations will also be included in the
agenda.
DOBOJ - At the session of the Executive Board of the Municipal Assembly,
which mainly focused on the security situation in the Municipality, it was
stated that tomorrow a meeting is to take place in the settlement of
Hodzici in RS - which is settled by Muslims from the Federation of B&H
(FB&H) - with the Muslims from Gracanica who are trying to settle
themselves illegally in the zone of separation in the Municipality of Doboj.
AMSTERDAM - The Muslims keep discussing on abandoning of the Dayton
agreement, because they want to establish their own state and are more and
more frequent mentioning a new territorial division by which they would get
60% of the total B&H territory, maintains the Associated Press citing the
CNN. The agency asserts that 'the Serbs have already got their half, while
the Muslims and Croats - although they still hate each others - are
forced to share their half of the territory'. According to the agency,
a unitary B&H is a huge illusion and only the Muslims have backed
the idea of integration so far, though since recently they bring this idea
into question.
BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian Movement of Renewal and one of the
leaders of the Zajedno [Together] coalition, Vuk Draskovic, announced that
his party 'is independently going over to the pre-election campaign, but
that it will stir up Serbia if the authorities reject a democratic
dialogue'. 'Neither will there be economic nor spiritual recovery without
radical changes to the political system.' Democracy, economy, judiciary and
military have to be founded on the principles of the modern democratic
West', explained Draskovic at a press conference in Belgrade.
SARAJEVO - At today's session held in Sarajevo, neither did the
representatives of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FB&H agree the
agenda nor the Government's suggestion that the Law on forming of new
municipalities in the FB&H be considered urgently. The FB&H Government
proposed on March 15 that the Law should be adopted urgently at today's
session of the House of Peoples, but even among the representatives of the
Government there are open misunderstandings on the issue.
