NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

MRKONJIC GRAD - The president from Republika Srpska in the Presidency of B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik, and the speaker of the RS Parliament, Dragan Kalinic, paid a working visit to Mrkonjic Grad and talked with the leadership of the Municipality on the economic and political situation. They gave most of their attention to the renewal of the housing and cattle funds, as well as to the activating of the economic capacities in the municipality, which was considerably destroyed and looted during the Croatian-Muslim occupation. During their visit to Sipovo, the president from RS in the Presidency of B&H and the RS National Assembly president, talked with the leadership of the Municipality of Sipovo on reconstruction and revitalisation of the economy in this part of RS. The RS state delegation, which was also comprised of the RS vicepremier for economic affairs, Djuradj Banjac, confirmed even this time that it can't even be discussed that the Municipalities of Sipovo and Mrkonjic Grad will be returned into the composition of the Federation of B&H or eventually changed for some other territory.

SIPOVO - The president from RS in the Presidency of B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik, stated in Sipovo that the truth about the real state of affairs is the only means for the fight against the ever frequent disinformation on that the Muslims will be given some concessions in the area of Sipovo. The president, Krajisnik stressed that 'none in the state leadership even thinks of such speculations'. In the talks with the municipal leadership, president Krajisnik warned that the spreading of disinformation is aimed at causing confusion and disintegration of this boundary line.

WASHINGTON - Even after the high-level consultation, the USA will remain consistent with and absolutely committed to the full implementation of the Dayton agreement, this was concluded at the meeting between the co-chairmen of the Council of Ministers of B&H, Boro Bosic and Haris Silajdzic, and the minister of foreign affairs, Dragan Bozanic with the US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright in Washington. Following the meeting, it becomes quite certain that the summary of the US policy in RS and the FB&H is in progress and, as Albright said, the USA will in the future be engaged intensively in the economic and social development of B&H. The co-chairman of the Council of Ministers from RS, Boro Bosic, warned the US Secretary of State of an extremely difficult economic and social situation in RS and the FB&H and asked for the 'USA to send a clear message that there will not be conflicts any longer in the B&H so that all the three peoples could devote themselves to the problems of existence'.

SARAJEVO - The prime ministers of the Governments of RS and the Federation of B&H, Gojko Klickovic and Edhem Bicakcic, respectively, agreed to the text of Protocol's on trade cooperation, which is to be singed by the competent ministers on May 21. After the 3rd meeting held between the premiers of the two entities in the US Embassy to Sarajevo, the premier Klickovic, said that the agreement has a function of the resolving of the basic problems of living and is in no way prejudicing the political solutions prescribed in the Dayton agreement. The Croatian-Muslim Federation premier added that a high degree of concurrence was reached on all the issues related to the agreement, mentioning that the issue of trade control has yet to be solved, having in mind the fact that Dayton does not allow the establishing of check points.

SARAJEVO - The latest shipment of offensive weapons, which was delivered to the FB&H within the 'Equip and Train' programme, represents a blatant violation of the Dayton agreement and does not contribute to the stabilisation of peace and the confidencebuilding between the FB&H and RS, this was concluded at the meeting held between the RS minister of foreign affairs, Aleksa Buha, the deputy minister of defence, Dragan Kapetina, and representatives of the General Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska with the OSCE ambassador, Morton Krasniem. 'We warned representatives of the OSCE that this will not lead to the confidencebuilding and peace and is in the direct opposition to the Dayton agreement, because it is being insisted on the disarming of one side - Republika Srpska, while at a time supplying of the another - the FB&H, stated Kapetina.

NOVI GRAD - Representatives of the Norwegian Refugee Council and the Municipal Assembly of Novi Grad, signed a contract on the financing of the repairing and building of the educational facilities in this municipality. The contract on the financial aid for the repairing of a school in Blatna and the building of a new one in Rasca was signed by the Norwegian Refugee Council representative, Lars Andre Scary, in the presence of the leaders of the Municipal Assembly of Novi Grad.

BRCKO - The head of the local Electoral Commission in Brcko, Stevica Sofic, warned that the OSCE sub-Office in the city wrongly interprets the regulations not accepting a refugee identification card as an appropriate voters identification document. As he said, the RS representative in the Provisional Electoral Commission got acquainted with the above problem and it is expected that a resolution to the problem aroused in the voters registration in Brcko will be reached at tomorrow's session of the Commission in Sarajevo.
