JUNE 11 1997 EVENING
NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA
SARAJEVO - The Presidency of B-H analysed the Sintra Political Declaration,
and determined the concrete commitments and dynamics of its implementation,
reads a press release from the RS Presidential Cabinet. In this sense, as
it stands, the session of the Standing Military Committee was convened for
June 16, and the Working Group for the preparation of B-H symbols was
formed. Presidency member Kresimir Zubak chaired over the session in stead
of absent Presidency chair. The organisation and portioning of the
diplomatic-consular network will be decided at the next Presidency session.
SARAJEVO - The Government passed the Draft law on internal affairs, which
will be sent to the RS National Assembly for adoption. The draft proposes
arrangements regulating the organisation of the Ministry of Internal
Affairs, and gives the way for new solutions for more effective acting.
These solutions are reflected especially through the establishment of
police stations, in stead of the existing public security centres, further
through precise and sound determination of competence of operational units
and strengthening of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a single body.
SARAJEVO - OSCE seminar on military doctrines provides an opportunity for
exchange of views, knowledge and attitudes of all three parties in B-H,
stated the assistant head of VRS General Staff for relations with
international military representatives, colonel Dusan Kukobat, at the first
day of the seminary in Jahorina.
BRCKO - The supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand stated that OSCE decision
to cancel voters registration in this city did not mean the postponement of
the local elections in this area. According to him, this drastic measure
was undertaken after studying of evidences on irregularities, and final
consequences will be known in three weeks. He explained that all
irregularities related to refugee cards dating over a year ago but being
kept new and totally destroyed parts of the city set forth as places of
habitation.
BRCKO - All political parties in Brcko are unanimous in condemnation of
OSCE decision of suspension and cancellation of the voters registration in
the city. They accused the international community of playing with human
rights and freedoms of the 40,000 Serbs in this area, out of which number
30,000 have been expelled from the Federation of B-H territories three
times. The president of the Municipal Board of the Serbian Democratic Party
in Brcko, Mladen Bosic, warned of the fact that OSCE confirmed on Friday
that there had no been objections to the registration process in Brcko,
while a drastic turn happened with the estimation of the number of Serb
voters at the local elections, which seemed not to be in line with the
objectives of the international community.
