JULY 8 1997 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The President of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic met in Banja Luka with the chief of the OSCE Mission to Republika Srpska and the Federation of B&H, Robert Frowick. After an hour long talks, no details about the meeting were made available to media.

BANJA LUKA - The Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) sticks to its stance, stated the chief-of-staff of the VRS General Staff, general Pero Colic, after the meeting with the RS president Biljana Plavsic. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the VRS General Staff and commanders of the Corpses. No statements were given after the meeting.

SARAJEVO - The president from Republika Srpska in the Presidency of B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik, appealed last night for the current constitutional crisis in RS to be resolved within its institutions and with the collective participation of all the state officials, but not by individual actions and at the rallies supporting either of the sides. While being a guest with the Serb TV, Mr. Krajisnik pointed out that the meetings of support to either of the sides are counterproductive in the current situation and the Law and the Constitution should be strictly adhered to. 'We did not agree fully in many things even during the war, but the differences were usually overcome within the institutions. Now, we also have to talk and resolve this difficult situation', pointed Krajisnik.

AMSTERDAM - The international community is forcing a rift in the political crisis in RS in order to create two irreconcilable centres of power in Banjaluka and Pale, thus dividing and neutralising RS, concludes the Dutch paper 'Folkskrant'. 'The RS president Biljana Plavsic' decision on disbanding the Parliament and introducing radical changes to the political system would provoke a serious erosion as of the present machinery of government in Pale so and of the entire system of rule', maintain anonymous political analysts cited by the paper.

ZVORNIK - Our enemies and the forces secretly wishing to erase the inter- entity boundary line between RS and the Federation of B&H are benefiting the most from the political conflict among the RS leadership. The survived soldiers will not, in the name of thousands of deceased and wounded, allow this, stated a member of the RS Veterans Organisation Presidency, Stjepan Mitrovic. 'The RS soldiers are the most responsible for her creation, that is why the word of theirs must be respected', stated Mitrovic, mentioning that the Veterans Organisation Presidency issued a communique at yesterday's extraordinary session held in Zvornik, asking for the holding of the delayed meeting between Plavsic and Krajisnik in Bijeljina.

BRCKO - The Association of Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Municipality of Brcko, numbering about 30,000 refugees, appeals to the whole of RS leadership to come to their senses and 'resolve the present problems for the well-being of RS and its people'. 'We in Brcko are founding ourselves in a very specific situation and are very sensitive to any kind of misunderstandings among the Serbs', says the communique made available to the Serbian Press Agency - SRNA.

SRPSKI BROD - The Municipal Board of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) from Srpski Brod supports fully the conclusions and decisions made by the Main Board of the Serbian Democratic Party and the Parliament of Republika Srpska (RS) in regard to the current constitutional crisis in RS. According to the announcement issued by the SDS Municipal Board, these decisions were made with a view to preserving the constitutional-legal order and legal institutions in the state.

BANJALUKA - Last night, a bomb was planted by unknown perpetrators in the yard of the house of the deputy chief of the Club of Representatives of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) and member of the immediate leadership of the Party, Pantelija Damjanovic. A room in which Damjanovic's children were sleeping and his personal car were damaged, says the announcement issued by the SRS.

BRCKO - The Muslim returnees to Brcko have not yet accepted the required identification documentation in RS. Some 162 families are presently living in the zone of separation around the town, while nearly 1,000 workers of the Muslim affiliation are doing the construction works. None of more than 1,000 Muslims in this part of RS possess the required documentation. They are, practically speaking, illegally present.

DOBOJ - The SFOR Nordic-Poland Headquarters refused to participate more officially in the repatriation of Muslims in the zone of separation around Doboj, marking this issue as a side one in the carrying out of their mission in RS and the Federation of B&H. The information sent by the SFOR Headquarters to the Municipal Assembly of Doboj points at the Muslim attempts to resettle themselves in RS and the Municipality of Doboj, stressing that the SFOR Headquarters will not be specially engaged in this job.

DOBOJ - The lives of Croats in the Srednye-Bosanska district are in an imminent danger. The Muslim violence against Croats is being escalated lately, reports the Croatian radio Herzeg-Bosnia. Some examples were given about the torturing of the Croats in the villages of Lovrici i Kalibunar in the Muslim-controlled Municipality of Travnik, as well as in the Municipality of Bugojno where Muslim authorities captured two combines from Ante Pejic, proclaiming the captured combines as war trophy.

MOSTAR - The president of the Croatian Democratic Union of B&H, Bozo Rajic, dismissed the accusations of both Muslims and IPTF representatives' of the Croatian side being responsible for the non-signing of an agreement on the establishment of joint Croat-Muslim police in the Herzegovina-Neretva canton.

MOSTAR - July 9, 1997 is proclaimed in the Croatian Union of Herceg-Bosnia as the day of mourning because of the death of the founder and leader of the Croatian people in B&H, Mate Boban, reports the Croatian radio Herceg- Bosnia.
