JULY 9 1997 EVENING

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic denied the existence of any kind of conflict with the president in the Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik, and regarding the possible compromise, the president said that all must be in accordance with the Constitution of RS. She confirmed in Banja Luka that she had received the letter from the Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic in which is "expressed the concern because of the current situation in RS" and that it must be solved immediately. At the press conference president Plavsic emphasised that in that letter Milosevic invited her to come together with Krajisnik in Belgrade on the meeting on which they would reach an compromise.

BELGRADE - The president in the Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik and Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic agreed in Belgrade that the current crisis in RS could be successfully solved only on the basis of cooperation of the state and political institutions on the constitutional basis. It is concluded that the consistent implementation of the Dayton agreement represent the vital interest for RS as well as for the stability in the region, and identical views were expressed about the necessity that all organs in RS respect the order and law. The fighting against "black economy" and all forms of crime is the priority task in eliminating the consequences of the war conflicts in these areas, it is assessed at the today's meeting in Belgrade.

BIJELJINA - At the square of the King Petar the First in Bijeljina was held the support rally for president of RS Biljana Plavsic. While addressing the assembled people, president of RS stressed that she remains firmly at the attitudes because of which she resolved the National Assembly of RS and scheduled new elections for September, stressing the need for stamping out the crimes and illegal accumulation of wealth of small number of people. While commenting the invitation of the Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic to meet president Krajisnik in Belgrade, she reiterated that "about the destiny of RS and its people ought to be talked in RS".

SARAJEVO - The general director of the Serbian Radio Television /SRT/ Miroslav Toholj communicated the letter to president Biljana Plavsic on the occasion of her yesterday's letter sent to the responsible and editor in chief of SRT in which the president of RS requires to enable her to appear in this medium very soon. In the letter is first stressed that "in SRT do not exist the unique function of the editor in chief and responsible person for both media", and than it is added: "I am free to offer to you free term which you chose, on the basis of the consultations with the responsible editor in chief of the Serbian radio (Milivoje Tutnjevic) and Serbian television (Drago Vukovic), and consistently following the Constitution and Law.

BRCKO - The president of the RS Government Gojko Klickovic expressed in Brcko his hope that the constitutional and political crisis in RS will be overcome in the next few days. "I think that the crisis will be solved very soon and that the compromise solution will be found, because each of actors who in this moment perhaps is not ready to yield probably will be exposed to the public judgment", said the prime minister Klickovic. He added that he expects from the representatives of the international community to respect the decision of the Constitutional Court of RS in accordance with the highest democratic principles of the countries from which they come.

SARAJEVO - The citizens of RS wish the persistence in the action to stamp out the crime and black economy, but the depth of the constitutional crisis, provoked by the unwise moves, moved away all persons dealing with the fighting against the crime and black economy and brought the country on the edge of catastrophe, is written in the announcement of the Ministry of Defence, signed by the secretary of the ministry Dragan Kapetina. "All the people in the country had believed in the political honesty and moral integrity of the president of RS when he started the action against crime."

BANJA LUKA - The City Board of the Serbian Democratic Party /GO SDS/ of Banja Luka pointed out that in this moment are endangered the vital interests and survival of RS in which foundations are built the lives of its best sons. In the announcement from the meeting of GO SDS Banja Luka is warned that "nobody has a right to play games with the survival of RS, no matter the former merits and state function".

HAMBURG - The reporter of the German news "Frakfurter Rudshau" Rolf Paasch reports from Banja Luka that the president Biljana Plavsic, who proclaimed her political opponents as the smugglers, "is now sitting in presidential palace in Banja Luka as the prisoner and isolated from other RS institutions". The current situation in RS Paasch assesses as the fighting for the power between Pale and Banja Luka, i.e. between alleged isolationists and pragmatists, who think that the SFOR tanks in front of the presidents palace looks like the support to her.
