JULY 16 1997 EVENING

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The president in the B-H Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS) Momcilo Krajisnik, called the Serb people to refrain from any display of hostility towards the representatives of the international agencies. In his comment on the latest incidents in Banjaluka, Prijedor and Zvornik, Krajisnik said that these were the results of "bitterness of the people caused by the murder of Simo Drljaca and arrest of Dr Milan Kovacevic and a kind of uncertainty provoked by the secret lists of indictees". "SFOR soldiers have their mandate, and they implement someone's policy. If some are to be blamed, these would rather be some politicians who are far away from this region", stated president Krajisnik after his meeting with deputy high representative Gerd Wagner, in Pale.

SARAJEVO - The co-chairman of the Council of Ministers, Boro Bosic, talked in Pale with deputy high representative Gerd Wagner, who conveyed wishes of high representative Carlos Westendrop for soon overcoming of the existing political problems in RS. "The international representatives want to have counterparts competent to decide on all issues", stated the co-chairman of the B-H Council of Ministers.

BRCKO - The international supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand, assessed that "Tango" operation, in which former police chief of Prijedor was killed and director of Prijedor hospital arrested "was carried out within the political guidelines". In his written report to SRNA, Farrand added that he supported Biljana Plavsic in the current dispute among RS leaders.

BRCKO - The supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand, stated that complaints by citizens claiming to have been denied their right to vote would be processed. Farrand added that the Electoral Appellation Commission will step-up its efforts to respond all complaints of citizens who "were not able to vote due to strict documents control". The announced protest meeting of citizens, who could not be registered despite having regular documents, was called off because of Farrand's pledge to review all complaints.

ZVORNIK - The president of the Municipal Board of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) in Zvornik, Stevo Radic, held separate meetings with the head of the EU Observing Mission Frid Gigaher and representatives of the SFOR Civilian Section, Chuck Johns and David Bruls, on the security situation in the area following numerous incidents. The last and most dangerous one was the placing of explosive under OSCE vehicle.
