NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic talked in Banja Luka with the chief of the EU monitoring mission for the former Yugoslavia Dean Everts about the ending preparations for impending Donors Conference scheduled for July 23 and 24 in Brussels. The president Plavsic greeted holding of the conference and invitation for her to attend this, third, meeting of donors, which are expected to provide 1,4 billions of US dollars for reconstruction and development of RS and F B&H. "We were afraid that, because of the political situation the conference will be delayed, but now I think that international community acted wisely when decided to hold the conference" - said the president and added that "if economic situation is better, the political situation would be better too".

SARAJEVO - The president in the Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik received in separate visits in Pale the charge d'affaires of U.S Embassy in Sarajevo Robert Bicroft and Special envoy of the minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Aksenionak. As stated in the announcement from Krajisnik's Cabinet, Bicroft conveyed the concern of the U.S. Government and international community because the last events in RS, especially because incidents which endangered the security of the representatives of the international community, and acquainted him with the attitudes of the Steering Board for peace implementation from the yesterday's session in Sarajevo. The president Krajisnik pointed out the negative consequences of the secret lists of persons indicted for war crimes, which spread the fear and unrest, increasing the tensions and significantly slow down the implementation of the Dayton Agreement.

SARAJEVO - The president and vice-president of the National Assembly of RS Dragan Kalinic and Miroslav Vjestica talked in Pale with the political director of OSCE Vladimir Kuznietsov about current situation in the country and previous attempts to find the peaceful solution of the Constitutional crisis. On this occasion is confirmed the readiness of the international community to do everything to return peace and stability in RS and enable the continuation of the process of economic renewal.

MRKONJIC GRAD - The most frequent streets in Mrkonjic Grad are already two days filled with the placards with the picture of the leader of Serbs in RS Radovan Karadzic, on which in English is written the message "Don't touch him!". The members of SFOR tried to move away these placards, but they were only partially successful. The same placards appear in the city of Nis in Serbia with messages in Serbian language written in Latin letters "The leader", "Serbs withstand", "We have to withstand"...

BANJA LUKA - The chief of the Cabinet of the president of RS Milos Prica accused the state media that unscrupulously continue to besmirch the president of RS, as he stated, in the way that Stalin would be ashamed. In the announcement from the Cabinet of the president of RS, signed by Mr. Prica, is reminded that Serbian Press Agency SRNA reported that the news "Srpski glas /the Voice of Serbs/" was burned in front of the presidential palace "Banski dvori" in Banja Luka . Mr. Prica cites that he has learned about burning from SRNA, which is surprising when everybody knows that this ritual has happened just in front of him few meters in front of "Banski dvori" and across the street in front of hotel "Bosna". However, what is astonishing is the fact that in the Prica's announcement there is no any word of condemnation of this vandalism.

SARAJEVO - The Board of directors and the editorial Board of the news "Oslobodjenje" expressed the protest because the public burning of the only Serbian daily in RS "Srpski Glas" in Banja Luka.

BRCKO - The international supervisor in Brcko Robert Farrand announced that at the Donors Conference for RS and B&H in Brussels next week he will present several proposals related to reconstruction of the house and economic revival of Brcko region. According to the announcement from his office, Farrand said this at the opening of the Information Centre for the local population in the settlement Stari Rasadnik, in the zone of separation, adding that the financial resources for Brcko would be discussed in detail at the Donors Conference, having in mind that this city is currently in the focus of interest of the international community.

HAGUE - The international tribunal for war crimes in Hague ultimately requested from Croatia to forward the complete materials about the Croatian general Tihomil Blaskic, because the evidence is very interesting, and in accordance to the Court decision they must be delivered until August 18. In these documents, beside other things, would be instructions which Franjo Tudjman had sent to the Croatian Government, related to the Bosnian Croats during the war in the former B&H.
