NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The President of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Presidency Aleksa Buha stated last night that, according to preliminary results of parliamentary elections in Republika Srpska (RS), the SDS achieved relative success -in despite of numerous irregularities which had prevented 30% of Serbian voters to fulfill their civil duty. Buha in the statement for SRNA pointed out the media blockade of the eastern part of RS and especially on the media blockade of SDS which disabled even bigger success of this party.

NEVESINJE - As SRNA unofficially learns, at the early parliamentary elections in the Serbian municipality Mostar, 55 citizens or 57.8% voted for SDS, 29 or 30.5% voted for Serbian Radical Party (SRS). For the Serbian National Union (SNS) three citizens voted and for the Socialist Party of RS (SPRS) two.

NOVI GRAD, SRPSKA KOSTAJNICA - As SRNA unofficially learns, at the early parliamentary elections in the municipalities Novi Grad and Srpska Kostajnica which are one election unit, the SDS won with 5,740 or 33% of votes. At second place is the SPRS with 4,439 or 25.5% of votes, at third place is the SNS with 2,788 or 16% of votes and at fourth place the SRS with 2,743 or 15.76% of votes.

SARAJEVO - The Head of the RS Army (VRS) General-staff brigadier general Pero Colic confirmed at the session of the Permanent Committee for military questions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) that the RS Army had totally carried out the Agreement about weapon reduction till October 30 current year. In the public statement of the VRS General-staff, Colic emphasised that this understands the reduction of heavy weapons in RS.

CETINJE - The first session of the second regular meeting of Montenegrian Assembly which is lasting since October 31, current year continues today.

SARAJEVO - According to unofficial results available to SRNA, at early parliamentary elections in Republika Srpska (RS), the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) won 203,559 votes or 32.87% of total electoral body in RS. Second is the Serbian National Union (SNS) - Biljana Plavsic with 123,026 or 19.87% of votes and third, the Serbian Radical Party (SRS RS) with 123, 026 or 19.87% of votes. The Socialist Party of RS (SPRS) scored 75,816 or 12.24% of votes while for the Party of Independent Social- Democrats voted (SNSD) 20,884 or 3.37% of voters.

SARAJEVO - According to unofficial results available to SRNA, at parliamentary elections in RS the best results in 46 of 61 municipalities has the SDS, at second place is SNS with best result in seven municipalities, at third place is the SRS with best results in five municipalities. In two municipality won SNSD and SPRS won in one municipality.

VIENNA - Into the OSCE centre for counting ballots, based in Vienna arrived about 60,000 ballots from foreign countries, but only 39,000 ballots was declared as correct and packed into the bags each having 1000 ballots, in which the ballots will be transported in Lukavica (Serbian Sarajevo). The RS Government representative Gordan Milinic which together with Dragan Podinic supervises this process confirmed to SRNA that all packed ballots had attached the original voters certificate from OSCE which was sent to the house address and which proves that voter can vote at the elections. Only these cases are completely correct and they are some kind of guarantee that really the voter had voted and not some club or somebody else in his name.

BELGRADE - At the press conference in Belgrade the President of the Federal Government Commission for Providing the Assistance to refugees Bratislava Morina stated that "during the parliamentary elections in RS at the territory of Federal Republic Yugoslavia (FRY) 10,266 or 53% of 19,200 registered voters, from the OSCE voting list, cast their ballots".

BANJALUKA - The President of SNSD Milorad Dodik expressed his pleasure with parliamentary elections, and assessed that at these elections the parties which will make decisions at the next elections came to surface. At the press conference in Banjaluka, Dodik emphasised that he soon expects constituting of the RS National Assembly and underlined that his party will not make any obstructions.

BELGRADE - The spokesman of Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Milorad Jovanovic assessed that first unofficial results of parliamentary elections in RS showed "great success of SDS". "We support the SDS which after all, retained the leading role in the conditions when the RS President Biljana Plavsic divided the party and when international community mounted large pressure on this party" - said Jovanovic.

BELGRADE - The spokeswoman of New Democracy (ND) Rebeka Srbinovic assessed that "the best solution for RS is the Government of National Unity, what is proved with the results of elections for RS parliament". Srbinovic emphasised in the statement for SRNA that "these elections are just confirmation of that determination and that the RS people had showed responsibility for the future of their state".

BELGRADE - The spokeswoman of Democratic Party (DS) Aleksandra Joksimovic stated that this party is satisfied with the achieved election results of SNS - Biljana Plavsic. "DS supports the option of democratisation and respecting of the Constitution and the terms of Dayton Agreement, and that is the option of SNS" - said Joksimovic in the statement for SRNA.

AMSTERDAM - During the pre-election campaign in RS the SFOR did not even try to hide his partiality, or to, at least on first sight, take a neutral stance toward the political crisis in RS - considers the Dutch paper "Parol". The commentator of international affairs Rene ter Stehe emphasises that SFOR during the pre-election campaign, had persistently presented itself in public like some kind of a guardian to those which the west would like to see as a majority in RS National Assembly. Also the SFOR from it helicopters threw the propaganda leaflets with the picture of RS President Biljana Plavsic.

BRCKO - The President of the municipal organisation of Association of expelled and displaced persons Brcko Milorad Zivlak stated for SRNA that "refugees didn't come in this city as tourists but to live in Serbian state, for what they will fight by all democratic means".

SARAJEVO - The minister of Sport and Youth in RS Government Rajko Papovic talked in Pale with the deputy chief of Coordination centre of OSCE in Sokolac Yoanis Takiridis and Joseph Kotlar, the monitor of European Mission, on issues of international recognition of sportsmen from RS.
