BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic convinced representatives of American Congress that there was significant political progress in RS, by which economic prerequisites for recovery of RS have been created. After the talks in Banjaluka Mrs. Plavsic reminded that giving of financial help to RS, as well as solving of Brcko's status, i. e. work of the Arbitration Commission, had been discussed too.

VIENNA - Brcko represents for Muslims a possibility to break up RS , and for Serbian side the region is of a vital significance, General Major Dusan Kukobat, the assistant of head of General Staff for relations with foreign armies and representatives of international organisations, emphasised.

BELGRADE - If the Arbitration Commission in Vienna decided that Brcko would not belong to RS, it would mean that the international community did not care about stability of RS - an associate of the Institute for Geopolitical Sciences in Belgrade General Radovan Radinovic thinks. In a statement for Belgrade's daily "Blic" he assessed that "decision of the Arbitration Commission will also be a great test for attitude of the international community toward the new RS Government".

ATHENS - Brcko is a unique opportunity for the international community to show how really prepared it is for consistent implementation of the Dayton peace accord - Greek Radio "902" concludes today, emphasising that RS had realised all her obligations. In this radio's broadcast "View into the world" strategical importance of Brcko for survival and existence of RS has been emphasised, reminding that Serbs had fulfilled all demands of the supervisor for the region of Brcko Robert Farrand and that there were no reasons for "continuing of agony of several thousands of Serbs exiled for Sarajevo and other places in Muslim-Croat federation".

MOSTAR - Chief of OSCE mission for B&H Robert Berry warned Croatian and Muslim leadership in Mostar that, if the process of forming of multi-ethnic municipal authorities in this town was not concluded before February 28, that the international community would fulfil its obligation through arbitrage - reports a radio in the federal part of Sarajevo. After visit to divided Mostar, the OSCE chief in B&H expressed displeasure with return of refugees, inward-looking attitude of local media, as well as with the fact that airport has not been opened for civilian transport yet.

SARAJEVO - District board of Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of Zenica called policemen of Croatian nationality not to take part at today's inauguration of the federal police for the Canton of Zenica and Doboj, a radio in the federal part of Sarajevo reports. Croatian side thinks that "conditions for forming of joint police forces in this Canton with Muslim majotiry have not been created yet".

DOBOJ - In the framework of "Winter Programme" the International Committee of the Red Cross (MK CK) delivered to municipal organisations of the Red Cross (CK) of Doboj's municipality clothes, shoes and food and sanitary packages , Regional organisation of CK for Doboj reported today.
