    [01] President Mugabe arrives in Cyprus Monday

    Nicosia, Jan 5 (CNA) -- Zimbabwe's President Robert Gabriel Mugabe arrives in Cyprus tomorrow for a three-day state visit during which he will hold talks with Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides.

    Mugabe will be accompanied by first lady, Grace Mugabe, Foreign Minister Stanislaus Mudenge, and a number of state officials, including Deputy Ministers of Environment and Tourism and Sports and Culture.

    Mugabe arrives tomorrow afternoon. The two Presidents will hold talks later in the day. Cyprus Foreign Minister Alecos Michaelides, and his Zimbabwean counterpart, will join the talks at a later stage.

    In the evening, President Clerides will hold a state banquet in honour of the President of Zimbabwe.

    On Tuesday, Mugabe will have meetings with Archbishop Chrysostomos and House of Representatives President Spyros Kyprianou.

    He will visit the Nicosia Town Hall where Nicosia Mayor, Lellos Demetriades will present President Mugabe with a plaque.

    In the afternoon, President Mugabe will address a special session of the House of Representatives and meet political party leaders.

    President Mugabe will also visit historical sites and museums in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos.

    He will leave on Wednesday evening for Rome. CNA GP/1997
