1010:CYPPRESS:01[01] President Clerides - Armenian Foreign MinisterNicosia, Mar 9 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides received here today Armenian Foreign Minister, Vartan Oskanian, who is paying a four-day official visit to Cyprus.Speaking to the press after the Presidential Palace meeting, the Armenian minister said "it was a big honour to meet the President today. I should say this was the culmination of my visit here." Oskanian expressed the hope "for a much more efficient and productive relationship between Armenia and Cyprus". He said "there are many issues on which we have common concerns and interests and we agreed to try and coordinate our efforts more in international fora." Oskanian also expressed the hope President Clerides will pay an official visit to Armenia during 1999. CNA MCH/GP/1999ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY1040:CYPPRESS:02[02] Visit - Occupied MonasteryNicosia, Mar 9 (CNA) -- Arrangements are being made for yet another visit by Greek Cypriots to the Turkish-occupied Monastery of Saint Andrew, on the most eastern tip of the island.The office of the Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs is inviting applications from Greek Cypriots to arrange, with the help of the UN, the visit. The office has stressed that "the visit will take place without any formalities for the issue of visas or the payment of 15 pounds sterling", normally demanded by the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime in the northern part of Cyprus. The Commissioner said pilgrims will have to pay a fee for the bus that will drive them to the Monastery, more than an hour long journey from the Ledra Palace check point, in the UN controlled buffer zone in the capital Nicosia. A special announcement points out that applications from people who have already visited the Monastery on previous occasions need not apply again as their request will not be taken into account. "Priority will be given to the elderly, to persons with serious health problems, children and close relatives of enclaved (people living in the occupied north) and to those who have suffered (as a result of the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus)," the announcement said.
