    [01] Cyprus - Green parties meeting

    Nicosia, Oct 11 (CNA) -- The European Green parties will hold a meeting in Cyprus in May 2000, representative of the local Ecological and Environmental Movement George Perdikis announced today.

    He said some 100 representatives of European Green parties are expected to take part in the meeting, to be held here following a proposal by the local Movement.

    [02] Foreign Minister - Athens - Consultations

    Nicosia, Oct 11 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will fly to Greece on Wednesday for consultations on issues pertaining to the Cyprus question and the European Union Helsinki summit in December.

    Announcing the visit today, Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said it is important that the Foreign Minister visits the Greek capital before a meeting of Cyprus' political leaders that will deal with the same issues.

    [03] Cypriot Ambassador to UN - Arab Group

    Nicosia, Oct 11 (CNA) -- Cyprus' permanent representative to the UN Ambassador Sotos Zackheos has told his counterparts from the Arab Group that the Cyprus problem is not a bicommunal or religious dispute.

    The Cypriot Ambassador met with the permanent representatives of Arab countries last week and briefed them on the latest developments in the Cyprus question.

    [04] British dignitaries - Meetings

    Nicosia, Oct 11 (CNA) -- British Labour Party deputy Alan Meale today said that the status of the Cyprus peace talks should not be changed.

    Meale along with a group of other British Labour and Conservative Party deputies as well as councilors from Barnet Municipality in London today called on President Glafcos Clerides, House President Spyros Kyprianou and the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus Archbishop Chrystostomos.

    [05] Student Unions Federation - Meeting

    Nicosia, Oct 11 (CNA) -- The Pancyprian Federation of Student Unions (POFNE) will host the 37th Session of the European Student Information Bureau (ESIB), which comprises 35 member organisations from 31 countries.

    Speaking at a press conference, POFNE Secretary Chrysanthos Georgiou said that "it is an honour" for POFNE to host the Session and expressed certainty that through the meeting, the student movement of Cyprus and Cyprus itself will benefit greatly.

    [06] Stock Exchange - Hour-long transactions

    Nicosia, Oct 11 (CNA) -- Transactions at the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) will continue to take place for one hour a day until further notice, it was announced today.

    A CSE announcement does not elaborate on the reasons behind this decision, which reduces trading time by 30 minutes.
