[01] Spokesman - Cyprus problem
Nicosia, Nov 23 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government expects that the Turkish
Cypriot leader will go to UN-sponsored talks "in a fresh spirit" having
already decided it is time to settle the Cyprus problem on the basis of a
federation.
The government believes remarks by the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan
that one should not have unrealistic expectations from next month's talks
display "seriousness and realism."

[02] Spokesman - EU - Cyprus - Turkey
Nicosia, Nov 23 (CNA) -- The start of UN-led proximity talks is not
considered by either Cyprus or Greece as sufficient justification to
warrant a decision by the European Union to anoint Turkey to the status of
a candidate country, Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said here
today.
He also said that at the EU Helsinki summit other signs and moves must
be given to satisfy the Greek side before Turkey becomes an EU candidate
state.

[04] Britain - US - Cyprus
London, Nov 23 (CNA) -- British Foreign Office spokesman expressed today
hope that the visits and various meetings held in Greece and Turkey by US
President Bill Clinton will strengthen relations between the two countries.

Turkey "will help in creating the preconditions for a successful conclusion
