By Riana Magidou Strasbourg, Apr 3 (CNA) -- President of the Council of Europe (CoE) Parliamentary Assembly Lord Russel Johnston today said it is "very regrettable" that Turkey has not yet complied with a decision by the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Greek Cypriot Titina Loizidou.

[06] Council of Europe - Intervention - Loizidou case

by Riana Magidou Strasbourg, Apr 3 (CNA) - The need for the Council of Europe to put pressure on Turkey so that it complies with a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights in the Titina Loizidou case was stressed today by Cypriot MP Panayiotis Demetriou, in an intervention at the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly session in Strasbourg.

Demetriou said that despite the fact that in every Council of Europe session the issue of Turkey's compliance with the ruling is discussed, he did not see "the Bureau or any other organ deal with this case, so as to give the clear message to Turkey that the decisions of the Court have to be complied with".
