[01] Nicosia Apr 20 (CNA) -- Egyptian Ambassador to Cyprus Omar
Metwally expressed today his country's support to a peaceful settlement of
the Cyprus problem, based on UN resolutions and acceptable by both Greek
Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
Speaking to CNA, after a press conference announcing an Egyptian Cultural
Week, Metwally also said he was optimistic about negotiations carried out
under the aegis of the UN for a solution to the protracted Cyprus problem
and said Egypt was "looking forward to the day when Cyprus will be reunited
again, as one country with one international personality".

[04] Iran - Cyprus
Nicosia, Apr 20 (CNA) -- The Islamic Republic of Iran has urged for the
implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Cyprus, stressing the
need for face to face talks between the leaders of Cyprus' two communities.
Iran's position was set out here this afternoon by the country's Deputy
Foreign Minister Mohsen Aminzadeh, speaking on Iran's foreign policy.
