Nicosia, May 16 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides left today the private
clinic, where he was recovering from surgery, thanking his doctors and the
medical staff for looking after him.
"I feel great," the President said on his way out. He will continue
recupearation from an operation ten days ago to remove a polyp from his
large intestine at home and on Monday he is due to return to the
Presidential Palace to resume his duties as normal.

Nicosia, May 16 (CNA) -- Leftwing opposition AKEL deputy, Thasos
Michaelides, underwent a successful balloon angioplasty yesterday at the
Nicosia General Hospital and doctors confirmed he can be discharged this
afternoon.
Doctor Costas Zambartas, who performed the surgical procedure, said
Michaelides will be able to resume his duties after resting for a few days.

Nicosia, May 16 (CNA) -- Doctors, who have operated on President Clafcos
Clerides earlier this month, have described the medical treatment he has
received "a success of the Cypriot doctors" and said they were very pleased
the President had opted for local medical care.
Doctors gave the President the all-clear for a trip abroad after the second
half of June, in view of expected UN plans to invite the Greek and Turkish
Cypriot sides back to either Geneva or New York for a third round of peace
talks.
