[01] Government - Cyprus Peace talks

Nicosia, Jun 20 (CNA) - Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides is prepared and ready to participate in meaningful talks to reach a settlement on the island for the whole of July, Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said today, calling on foreign envoys involved to act towards the Turkish side as its attitude does not leave much room for optimism that this new peace effort will bear fruit.

The National Council, the top advisory body to the President on the Cyprus issue comprising parliamentary party leader, will convene on Monday, June 26, to discuss the situation, the spokesman announced.
