    [01] UNFICYP - Kokkina

Nicosia, Aug 8 (CNA) -- The UN Peace-keeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) will protest against the violation of the maritime security line by boats of the Turkish-occupation regime, which carried today Turkish Cypriots to the occupied village of Kokkina to "celebrate" the bombing of the north-west area of Tylliria by Turkish fighters in August 1964.

Speaking to CNA, UNFICYP Spokeswoman Sarah Russell pointed out that the UN were not facilitating the whole affair and added that "there has been some boat movement, a number of boats crossed the maritime security line in the west".

[02] President Clerides - Israeli Ambassador

Nicosia, Aug 8 (CNA) - Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus, Shemi Tzur, today expressed his country's support to the UN-led proximity talks on the Cyprus problem and said that Israel wishes to see a settlement on the island, divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third, as stability in the Eastern Mediterranean would contribute towards the Middle East peace process.

Speaking after a meeting with President Glafcos Clerides, whom he bid farewell as he is leaving his Ambassador's post and returning to Jerusalem, Tzur said that the talks on the Cyprus problem are a long process and called for patience. CNA/RM/RG/MCH/2000

    [03] Kokkina - Visit

Nicosia, Aug 8 (CNA) - Seven boats carrying 470 Turkish Cypriots landed in Turkish occupied village of Kokkina today, for "celebrations" to commemorate the bombing of the north-west area of Tylliria by Turkish fighters in August 1964.

Sources told CNA that a ferry boat, a coast guard boat, three landing craft, a security boat and one other boat landed in Kokkina, while two helicopters carrying Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash and the so-called "prime minister" of the occupation regime in the north, Dervis Eroglu, along with nine other persons, landed in the same area.
