[03] Cyprus - Greece - Foreign Ministers meeting

Nicosia, Aug 21 (CNA) -- Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Greece, Ioannis Kasoulides and George Papandreou, will meet in Athens next week to coordinate efforts so that the UN-led talks for a settlement in Cyprus will go into the substance of the problem.

During the meeting, to be confirmed for August 30, the two Ministers will also discuss issues relating to Turkey's European Union accession partnership, expected to be decided in November, as well as relations between Greece and Turkey.

[04] Greek government - Cyprus problem

Nicosia, Aug 21 (CNA) -- Greek government spokesman Dimitris Reppas has said that the Cyprus problem is a top priority for Athens, noting that increased interest in a settlement is also due to initiatives taken by the Greek government and the fact that it raises the issue in its international meetings.

According to the Athens News Agency, replying to questions during his daily briefing today, Reppas also recalled the European Union Helsinki summit conclusion that a settlement in Cyprus is not a precondition for the Republic's accession and said this decision cannot change.
