    [01] Foreign Minister - Athens

Larnaca, Aug 29 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides believes there could be some movement in the Cyprus peace effort from now on, noting however that not much has happened in the past few weeks during the summer holidays.

The minister, who left for talks in Athens, also said the conclusion date of Cyprus' accession negotiations with the European Union would be a landmark period and not the actual date of accession.

Patriotic Unity Movement - Cyprus problem

Nicosia, Aug 29 (CNA) - A Turkish Cypriot politician has suggested that the political parties on both sides of the island start preparing the ground for a solution to the Cyprus problem, adding that delegations of the parties seeking a federal solution should visit Greece and Turkey to make the public aware of the fact that the people want a just and viable solution.

Invited to comment on the ongoing UN-led proximity talks, Ozker Ozgur, member of the Turkish Cypriot Patriotic Unity Movement, said that "we have gone through three of them (rounds), nothing much has come out and I do not think anything much will come out of these talks." A fourth round is scheduled to begin September 12 in New York. CNA/RG/GP/2000
