    [01] Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Ķicosia, Oct 16 (CNA) - According to the Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport, the weather forecast for Cyprus is:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 17/10/2000 to 18/10/2000

    The weather will be fine and sunny. Winds will be light to fresh at times. Temperatures will range between 19C min and 29C max along the coast and between 17C min and 27C max inland.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 19/10/2000 to 20/10/2000

    The weather will continue to be fine and mostly sunny, with the odd shower. Temperatures will reach around 26C max all over the island.

    Sea Temperature: 24°C



    [02] Greek Cypriot - Turkish Cypriot parties - Meeting

    Nicosia, Oct 16 (CNA) - Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political party leaders today exchanged views on the latest UN-led effort for peace on the island at a meeting held at the UN-controlled Ledra Palace hotel in Nicosia, under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy.

    According to a joint communique issued after the meeting, the party leaders agreed to promote bicommunal events in view of the great success of the first festival of mutual understanding held last month, where some eight thousand people turned up.
