[01] Foreign Minister - German State Minister

Nicosia, Oct 20 (CNA) - The current circumstances provide the most favourable time for progress towards a Cyprus settlement, according to German State Minister Christoph Zoepel said here today, after talks with Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, adding that the UN has opened a "window of opportunity" with the ongoing proximity talks.

Zoepel praised President Glafcos Clerides "responsible and careful" stance at the talks, and said UN moves, US interest to solve the Cyprus problem and Turkey's wish for closer links with Europe have contributed to an improved climate at the talks.
