    [02] President Clerides - Greek Defence Minister - Decoration

    Nicosia, Oct 21 (CNA) - President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides this evening decorated Greek Defence Minister, Akis Tsohatzopoulos, with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, which is the highest award of the Republic.

    Speaking at the ceremony, President Clerides revealed that over the past four years, Greece has sent over 400-million-pounds worth of military equipment to Cyprus and that Athens covers the costs of National Guard officers being trained in Greece. (One Cyprus pound is trading at about 1,5 US dollars). CNA/RG/2000
