[01] Cyprus - Turkey - Air space violations
Nicosia, Nov 21 (CNA) - Four Turkish aircraft violated today Cyprus' air
space during military manoeuvres code-named "Toros 2000".
"We have monitored the violations of our air space and we are in a position
to locate and lock on to them," President Glafcos Clerides said of the
violations.

[02] Cyprus - European Union force
Brussels, Nov 21 (CNA) - Cyprus has pledged its own contribution to the
planning for the creation of a European Union (EU) rapid reaction force.
Defence Minister Socratis Hasikos, who represented the Republic at a
meeting in Brussels of EU and candidate states, told his European
counterparts Cyprus would not contribute battle troops but it could offer
logistics support and reconnaissance facilities.

Brussels, Nov 21 (CNA) - Belgian Defence Minister Andre Flahaut welcomed
here today Cyprus' support for the European Defence and Security Policy and
for Europe's enhanced role in the international arena.
Flahaut told his Cypriot counterpart Socrates Hasikos at a meeting, on the
sidelines of a gathering of defence ministers from the EU and candidate
countries, that the Nice EU summit will examine further the contributions
of candidate countries to the creation of a rapid reaction force.

[04] Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot women - meeting
Nicosia, Nov 21 (CNA) - Cypriot women from both sides of the divide, who
met today in Turkish occupied Nicosia, spelt out their concerns about
women's affairs and pledged to work for a bizonal, bicommunal federal
Cyprus.
The Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot women, representing leftwing trade
unions, decided to enhance their contacts and organise discussions and
seminars both in the southern government controlled areas and the northern
Turkish occupied part of the island.
