Cyprus - State Department - EU

Washington, May 5 (CNA) -- The US position on Cyprus' accession to the European Union has not changed and the US supports the Helsinki conclusions as well as the UN efforts aiming at finding a solution to the Cyprus question, State Department's Spokesman Richard Boucher told his briefing here yesterday.

Invited to comment on reports published in Cypriot newspapers that the US has misgivings at the prospect of a divided Cyprus entering the EU and so may seek a freeze in Cyprus' accession process, Boucher said the US "have supported the EU's decision and method of dealing with this".
