2030:CYPPRESS: 08 Cyprus Chief Negotiator - EU - Cyprus problem Nicosia, Sep 21 (CNA) -- Cyprus' chief negotiatior with the EU George Vassiliou has expressed certainty that Cyprus will be among the countries to enter the EU in 2004 or the latest in 2005 and stressed that Cyprus has to continue streadily its course towards EU accession and reunification.

Speaking in Athens on "Cyprus and the EU: Accession and Solution?" at a gathering in memory of Greece's late Alternate Foreign Minister Giannos Kranidiotis, Vassiliou said that 2004 will either mark a new era in Cyprus history - its reunification, accession to the EU and new conditions for a harmonious cooperation of Greece and Cyprus with Turkey - or the beginning of a new period of tension - postponement of Cyprus accession and an unprecedented crisis in our region and the EU.
