Nicosia, May 10 (CNA) -- A British military plane left its base at Akrotiri, Cyprus, at 0730 local time (0430 GMT) to collect 13 Palestinian militants who left this morning the besieged Church of Nativity in Bethlehem, British Bases spokesman Rob Need confirmed.

The Hercules C-130 is expected to land on return at Larnaca International Airport, as Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides told a late-night news conference.

The minister said the 13 Palestinian militants will stay in a hotel, under strict security measures, until early next week when they will leave for other destinations.

The 13 Palestinian militants left the Church of Nativity under a deal intended to end a more than five-week armed standoff.
